Workshop: Understanding Sex Work: Realities, Histories & Rights

On March 22nd, FAU will participate in a workshop titled „Understanding Sex Work: Realities, Histories, and Rights” in collaboration with the community collective 706 Hamburger and Ernestine Pastorello, a passionate activist and historian.

The workshop will cover various topics, including:

  • The basics of sex work: Who does it, where, when, and how, as well as the legal frameworks and current models in Germany.
  • Historical background of sex work in Germany, including the experiences of sex workers during the Covid-19 pandemic.
  • Brief thoughts around the commercialization of sex: Is it good or bad?
  • Specific details about sex work in Hamburg.
  • The relationship between sex work and migration.
  • The current landscape: What is life like for sex workers in Germany today? What are their concerns, dreams, and collective efforts?
  • The legal and social realities of sex work in Germany, including Hamburg’s unique context.
  • The intersection of sex work and labor rights, migration, and unionization efforts.

The workshop will take place from 13:30-15:30 (doors open at 13) at university Hamburg. The exact location will be disclosed after registration via the QR code or link.
